💔This was the last time I’ll ever hear my sweet son’s heartbeat 🥹 And the craziest thing? We wait until birth to find out gender, & his oldest sister, Kalea, told my husband & sister we were having a BOY at the same exact moment I was hearing his heartbeat for the last time at my routine midwife checkup at 36.5 weeks. 😭 He had a strong 143 heartbeat and everything looked perfect. My whole pregnancy was healthy and I had zero negative symptoms for all 3 of my babies. 🫶🏽 Then just 3 days later we were given the news that his heart stopped. I think I already knew the night before (10u002F28) because I hadn’t felt him kick all night & he was usually very active at night. 😞 I didn’t want to be paranoid so I waited until the evening of 10u002F29 to go get checked. My midwife couldn’t find his heartbeat. 🥺 It didn’t feel real. I had JUST heard his heartbeat a few days earlier. So strong. So alive! Then…nothing. Lifeless.💔 We went to the hospital for an ultrasound late that night & they did 3 of them just to be absolutely certain. We asked to see the gender bc in my mind “it didn’t really matter if the baby is dead.” 😭 But they couldn’t tell us! He was too squished. 🤍 And I have way more of the story to share, but I’ll stop at this: I’m so thankful they couldn’t tell us the gender. The moment when Luca came out, we still had that incredibly hard, but beautiful surprise of finding out he was our only son & that daddy and Kalea were right all along! We only had one name chosen (no girl names) and it was HIS! Luca Makoa. 🥹 We felt protected. God knew our hearts better than we did in that moment of “giving up.” God’s hand has been on every detail since before Luca was even conceived. I have story after story of God’s goodness & the miraculous. 🙌🏽 Even through stillbirth, God is still good. And my life is a living testimony of that. 🫶🏽
